mapof.net/?cityname and get your city information instantly.
Is mapof.net free to use?
Yes! mapof.net is completely free and always will be. We believe geographic knowledge should be accessible to everyone without barriers. There are no hidden fees, premium tiers, or paywalls - every city map and information is freely available to all users.
Do I need to create an account?
No account is required! We don't have user accounts, logins, or registrations. Simply visit the site and start looking up words immediately. This is part of our commitment to privacy and simplicity.
How do I look up a city?
Simply add
?cityname to our URL. For example:
- To view "Paris":
mapof.net/?paris - To view "Tokyo":
mapof.net/?tokyo - To view "London":
mapof.net/?london
Can I look up cities with multiple words in their names?
Yes! You can look up cities with multi-word names. Just include spaces in the URL, which will be automatically encoded. For example:
mapof.net/?new york or mapof.net/?los angeles. The system will find the city if it exists in our database.
How do I share a city map with someone?
Simply copy the URL from your browser's address bar and share it! Each city has its own unique URL. When someone clicks your link, they'll go directly to that city's map and information. For example, sharing
mapof.net/?barcelona will take them straight to Barcelona's interactive map.
Can I bookmark cities?
Absolutely! Since each city has its own URL, you can bookmark any city just like any other webpage. Create a folder in your bookmarks for cities you're planning to visit, places you've traveled to, or any collection of cities you want quick access to.
Why is mapof.net so fast?
We've optimized for speed in several ways:
- Intelligent data loading (only loads city data when needed)
- Browser caching for recently viewed cities and map tiles
- Minimal, optimized code with no bloat
- No ads or tracking scripts slowing things down
- Efficient map rendering with Leaflet
Does mapof.net work offline?
Once you've viewed a city, basic information is cached in your browser and will be available even if you briefly lose internet connection. However, viewing new cities and loading map tiles requires an internet connection. We're exploring offline-first features for the future.
What browsers are supported?
mapof.net works on all modern browsers including:
- Chrome (version 90+)
